Leyland Tiger PS 1  Brush BET FED body 1948

The origins of Brush date back to the mid 1880`s when Brush Electric Engineering was formed to produce dynamos, motors and transformers for railway and tramway rolling stock.

Brush established a factory in Loughborough to build tramcar bodies and at the turn of the century they had produced open top bodies for Leeds, Liverpool and Plymouth Corporations plus several other undertakings.

The market was developing through the early 1900`s for petrol engined vehicles and in 1904 Brush produced a body for the chassis of a normal control Daimler.

From 1905 Brush had close connections with the BET and BAT groups in developing a single deck bus body, a relationship which continued until 1952 when Brush decide to cease production of bus bodies.

The kit is based on the 1948 design for the BET federation produced for Yorkshire Woollen and Yorkshire Traction. With minor variations it is suitable for other operators and several were also sold on for further service with smaller companies.

The main companies operating this type were County, Stratford Blue, PMT Yorkshire Woollen, Yorkshire Traction, East Yorkshire (rear entrance),  Western Welsh, Tynemouth & District.
