ROE LOWBRIDGE 1947

In 1936 a new design of double decker was introduced by ROE. This had a much smoother appearance than the previous style with a curved front eliminating the V shape of the upper deck bulkhead windows. The offside staircase window was redesigned with a sloping pillar to match the characteristic two landing safety staircase which was a distinguishing feature on most Roe bodies of the period.

 

The design was modified in early post war years with the domed roof giving way to a flatter more common style. The staircase window was retained but the angled window under the stairs was converted to a smaller rectangular window

The teak waist-rail was retained.

In 1947 a lowbridge version was introduced and bought by many Yorkshire and North East operators

Seating capacity was L27/26R.
